I just returned from Asia and don't like the hair cuts or prices in the States. Since I maintain a simple crew-cut I decided to try cutting my own hair. I bought the Philips QC5170 180 and am satisfied. Since I don't have any style needs I just mow it down from front to back going against the grain of the hair growth. Works great for a clean-cut look. The 180 swivel clipper makes it easier to get the odd angles at the back and sides.

I am extremely pleased with these clippers. They are lite, easy to use, never need sharpening and very affordable. If you are a do it yourself barber, you won't go wrong with these.

After several failed attempts trying to buy a Remington Shortcut that would hold a charge, I stumbled onto the Philips Norelco QC5170. It is by far the best hair clipper I have ever owned.
First things first...this baby holds a charge! It has over an hour of run time on a full charge. And if the charge does run out, it works with its AC charger plugged in. So you're never stuck with half a haircut and a dead set of clippers.
The cutter is powerful. The blades move fast so they don't pull your hair, they cut it.
Its adjustable cut settings and its pivoting spacer comb combine to produce a great, easy haircut. I also use it to trim my beard. The primary spacer comb easily pops off for easy cleaning, or to attach one of the specialty combs and cutters that also come with it.
I enthusiastically recommend this product.

Im an international student who was "surprised " by the price, not include the tips, of hair cut in America. I decided to try to cut my own hair then choose this item. It is so seay to use even though it was the first time to do this. It's not perfect, coz I only have one mirror and no comb. But it still did a good job. My friends never believe that I cut my own hair. Totally worth the money.

I love my barber but have always thought I could cut my own hair. It seemed straight forward - I am balding and wear my hair short [no. 2 clipper]. I bought the Norelco 180-Degree clipper as an experiment and it works great. Its very easy to use but it helps to read the instructions which include great tips for getting a clean, even cut. It also takes some practice. All in all, the clipper is definitely worth the $35 investment.
